Histórico! Girona está na Champions League 24/25

After the last game against FC Barcelona, Girona FC qualifies for the next season of the Champions League. For most Blanquivermells fans, it still hasn’t sunk in that the biggest clubs in Europe will be visiting Estadi Montilivi next season.
Not only did the club qualify for the Champions League for the first time in its 94-year history, but they also performed at the highest level of the UEFA competition.
By putting on a show in the second half against FC Barcelona on Saturday, beating their neighbors 4-2 for the second time this season, Míchel’s team achieved a goal that was only set in the middle of the season.
Even when they started with six wins and a draw in the first seven games, the coach insisted that the main goal was to avoid relegation. It wasn’t until January that he admitted that qualifying for Europe had also become a goal.
After the achievement was confirmed on Saturday, the coach spoke to the press about what it means to the club, stating:
“What we have achieved this year is incredible. It’s historic. It’s wonderful. The project is great. We were able to work and grow day by day. We worked calmly, but demanding, and with a squad of players who want to grow. That’s how we went from the second tier to the Champions League, and deservedly so. I hope everyone enjoys it.”
Fans certainly enjoyed it, with 14,000 people celebrating the victory in the stands of Estadi Montilivi and many more taking to the streets of the city center on Saturday night to celebrate what is undoubtedly the greatest night in the history of Girona FC.
