CBF suspende duas rodadas do Brasileirão Série A

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced the suspension of the 7th and 8th rounds of the Serie A of the Brazilian Championship, the Brasileirão, due to the floods affecting Rio Grande do Sul. The games were scheduled for the next two weekends.
The suspension period – from May 19 to 27 – coincides with the one announced by the CBF last week, which only included matches of teams from Rio Grande do Sul (female and male) in all national championships.
The measure was taken after the entity received a request from 15 of the 20 teams participating in the competition and from the Rio Grande do Sul Football Federation.
The clubs that made the request were: Atlético Goianiense, Atlético Mineiro, Athletico Paranaense, Criciúma, Cruzeiro, Cuiabá, Bahia, Juventude, Vitória, Fluminense, Fortaleza, Grêmio, Botafogo, Sport Club and Vasco da Gama.
According to the entity, five clubs were against the suspension of Serie A in rounds 7 and 8: Flamengo, Palmeiras, Corinthians, São Paulo, and Bragantino.
The entity also states that the Extraordinary Technical Council of Serie A will meet on May 27. Among the issues to be discussed are the deliberation on technical aspects of the competitions as well as the situation regarding the registration and transfer of athletes.
