Mistério de James Rodriguez continua no São Paulo

James Rodriguez needs to come out publicly and answer the million-dollar question: why doesn’t he play for São Paulo the same way he does for the Colombian national team? Rumor has it that he is a “prima donna” who always has an excuse not to play. Mysterious muscle pains seem to appear out of nowhere. The problem seems to be when it comes to running on the field. James is fine with the gym, but when it comes to aerobic effort, he seems to forget. Is he lazy? Or just complacent in his situation? After all, the rewards are great and playing for Tricolor (one of the biggest clubs in Brazil) has its perks.

During the Copa América, James was caught alongside president Júlio Cazares behind the scenes of the Brazil vs. Colombia game. They exchanged “love vows” with friendly pats on the back as if they were long-time friends. Could the issue be the player’s mellow temperament that doesn’t quite fit with the team? Or is it difficult to adapt to Zubeldia’s tactical scheme, with four attackers that, let’s face it, doesn’t always work properly? Wouldn’t James Rodriguez be the icing on the cake? Or does the current coaching staff lack the competence to structure the team around a player with his specific characteristics?

As you can see, doubts keep arising about the “enigma” that is James Rodriguez. São Paulo is having a good run in the Brasileirão. They still have the Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil ahead of them. It’s hard to believe there isn’t a spot for the Colombian hero of the Copa América. The team is lean and any reinforcement would be welcomed. James is a football genius and could surely fit in with the team in the midst of three competitions. Are Wellington Rato, Calleri, Luciano, among others, better than him?

And that’s my final word!
